Andrew Porter forwards Janice Gelb’s notice that Robert Weinberg writes: “The rumors are true. I am selling off a substantial part of my science fiction/fantasy/mystery collection. Bookdealer Richard Meli of Heartwood Auctions in Florida is selling many of my books, pulps, and paperbacks. As a long-time bookstore owner and rare book collector, I assembled one of the finest book collections in the SF field. I had many scarce items and many signed books. “More books and pulps will be listed each week, as they have several thousand items for sale!”
A cursory glance at The Weinberg Collection shows, of the 298 lots currently available, items ranging from a complete run of the 24 issues of The Whisperer (1936-42) listed at $1,499, a 1954 first Doubleday edition of Isaac Asimov’s The Caves of Steel ($1,250), and a signed wooden slipcased edition of The Asimov Chronicles ($1,250) to the September 19, 1931 issue of Love Story ($3), the November 1949 issue of Black Mask ($8), and the February 1950 issue of Walt Coburn’s Western ($8).
