Actor/playwright/novelist Tom Isbell sold a young adult fantasy trilogy to HarperCollins Childrens in “a seven-figure book deal,” according to GalleyCat. The deal was negotiated by agent Victoria Sanders with acquiring editors Alyson Day and Phoebe Yeh.
The first book, to be called The Hatchery, is expected to be published in 2013.
According to IMDb, Isbell had small roles in The Abyss (1989), True Lies (1994), Clear and Present Danger (1994), and two dozen other films and television series. He also writes children’s plays, and “is currently adapting Rodman Philbrick’s Newberry Honor-winning book, The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg (to be produced by Theatre for Young Audiences at the Kennedy Center in the fall of 2012).”
