PS Publishing is featuring an “author of the week” for the next ten weeks. “We’re going to give a big push through the newsletter to our next ten authors, concentrating on one of them each week. We’re aiming to have all the books (ten of them, cos Ramsey has two) available at FantasyCon. The authors are, in no partcular order: Chaz Brenchley, Ramsey Campbell, Christopher Fowler, Paul Kane, Ian R. MacLeod, Mark Morris, Lavie Tidhar, Conrad Williams, and Rio Youers.
“The idea is to feature a piece written by the author plus a nice pic and links to where you can buy other titles by them (PS or otherwise). Then, for the one week following the newsletter, anyone pre-ordering that particular title will receive a discount voucher on their next purchase. So, if you pre-order our featured author’s trade edition you will get a 10% discount voucher off your next purchase and if you order the signed edition you will get a 20% reduction off your next purchase.”
The first featured author is Lavie Tidhar, and the current PS newsletter includes his short story “Wrong Number.” In addition to offering that story free in the newsletter, PS is publishing Tidhar’s short story “My Travels With Al-Qaeda” as an eTale, and giving it away free to all newsletter subscribers for one week, downloadable to the iPad, Kindle or other eBook reader. After the one week offer, they’ll be selling the story for 79p, saying “well, Lavie’s gotta make something out of the deal.”
