Mike Brotherton writes that applications for this year’s Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop will be accepted during the month of March 2011, and are due by the 31st (see this page to apply. Launch Pad is “an essentially free workshop for established writers held in beautiful high-altitude Laramie, Wyoming. Launch Pad aims to provide a ‘crash course’ for 10-12 attendees in modern astronomy through lecture, hands-on activities, discussion, and observation through the University of Wyoming’s telescopes.” This year’s workshop will run from 10 July to 17 July, with special guest instructor Dr. Stanley Schmidt (physicist and long-time editor of Analog Science Fiction and Fact and returning educator Jim D. Verly.
Founded with a NASA grant, Brotherton says the workshop’s new funding source is the National Science Foundation.
