Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week in January

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 23-29 January 2009. New release Underworld: Rise of the Lycans opened in the number 2 slot, taking in $25.6 million. My Bloody Valentine 3-D dropped from #3 to #6, grossing $12.7 million, for a two-week total of $40.3 million. Inkheart opened at #7, bringing in $9.1 million. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button actually climbed this week, rising from #11 to #9, with a box office take of $7.9 million, for a five-week total of $112.9 million.
The Unborn dropped from #8 to #13, taking in $5.2 million, for a three-week total of $40.1 million. Bedtime Stories fell from #12 to #18, grossing $2.4 million, for a five-week total of $108.0 million. Twilight was down from #18 to #21, earning $1.3 million, for a ten-week total of $186.4 million.
The Tale of Despereaux fell out of the top 25 in its sixth week in release; last week it was #23.
