Publisher Mondadori, on its Urania blog, is reporting the death of Italian science fiction author Lino Aldani on 31 January 2009 of lung disease. Born 29 March 1926 in San Cipriano Po, Italy, he was also a math teacher. His first science fiction stories appeared in the 1960s, with his first novel following in 1977 (Quando le radici). He was also a critic, and co-founded the Italian sf magazine Futuro with Massimo Lo Jacono in 1963.
Aldani’s othe rbooks include Eclissi 2000 (1979), Nel segnmo della luna bianca (1980, co-written with Daniela Piegai), La croce di ghiaccio (1989), and Themoro Korik (2007). The referenced blog entry is a very long obituary, but it’s written in Italian.
