Top Box Office Grossers: First Week of April

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 4-10 April 2008. 21 kept the top spot for the second week. New release Nim’s Island opened in the #2 spot, grossing $16.3 million. Horton Hears a Who dropped from #2 to #4, taking in $11.7 million, for a four-week total of $133.6 million. New release The Ruins showed up at #5, with a box office take of $10.2 million. Superhero Movie dropped from #3 to #6, bringing in $6.6 million for a two-week total of $18.1 million. 10,000 B.C. was down from #7 to #9 (very respectable, considering that three films opened this week ahead of it), garnering $3.7 million for a five-week total of $90.3 million. Shutter dropped from #6 to #10, grossing $3.5 million, for a three-week total of $23.8 million.
The Spiderwick Chronicles, Doomsday, and Jumper all fell out of the top 25. Spiderwick fell from #17 to #28 in its eighth week in release. Doomsday went from #18 to #36 in its fourth week. And Jumper stumbled from #21 to #29 in its eighth week in the theatres.
