Fox TV’s Teen Choice Awards Recognize Genre Winners

Fox Television last night presented the Teen Choice Awards, and while we won’t list all the winners or categories, several should be of interest to our genre audience.
In the category “Choice Movie: Action Adventure” (apparently science fiction and fantasy are subsumed into “action adventure”) the winner was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The other nominees were 300, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Spider-Man 3, and Transformers.
Horror/Thriller, however has its own “Choice Movie” category. The winner here was Disturbia. The other nominees were 1408, Hostel: Part II, The Number 23, and Saw III (apparently a number in the movie title was a bad thing in this category).
Choice Movie Actor: Action Adventure went to Johnny Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean. His competition included Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), and Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 3).
Choice Movie Actress: Action Adventure was won by Keira Knightley for Pirates of the Caribbean. Her competitors were Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man 3), Megan Fox (Transformers), and Lena Headey (300).
Choice Movie Actor: Horror/Thriller winner was Shia LaBeouf for Disturbia. The other nominees were Jim Carrey (The Number 23), Josh Duhamel (Turistas), Ryan Gosling (Fracture), and Jake Gyllenhall (Zodiac).
Choice Movie Actress: Horror/Thriller went to Sophia Bush for The Hitcher. The other nominees were Jessica Biel (Next), Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), Elisha Cuthbert (Captivity), and Amber Tamblyn (The Grudge 2).
Getting into the somewhat less common categories, the winner of Choice Movie: Villain was Bill Nighy as Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean. The other nominees in this category were Topher Grace (Venom in Spider-Man 3), Julian McMahon (Victor Von Doom in Fantastic Four), Megatron (Transformers), and Al Pacino (Willie Bank in Ocean’s Thirteen).
Choice Movie: Liplock went to Keira Knightley & Orlando Bloom from Pirates of the Caribbean. Other nominees included Drew Barrymore & Hugh Grant (Music and Lyrics), Beyonce & Jamie Foxx (Dreamgirls), Kirsten Dunst & Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man 3), and Megan Fox & Shia LaBeouf (Transformers).
Choice Movie: Rumble was won by Pirates of the Caribbean (Will Turner vs. the Crew of the Flying Dutchman). The other nominees were 300 (Spartans vs. The Immortals), Fantastic Four (Johnny Storm vs. Victor Von Doom), Spider-Man 3 (Spider-Man and New Goblin vs. Venom and Sandman), and Transformers (Captain Lennox vs. Blackout).
The entire list of winners and nominees, in an astounding array of categories, is available on this page.
