Kevin J. Anderson sold world English rights to the “Terra Incognita” trilogy to new publisher Orbit. Agent John Silbersack, of the Trident Media Group, handled the deal. The trilogy—inspired by “the great sea voyages of the age of discovery”—will be a “flagship series for Orbit in the US and the UK,” publishing director Tim Holman said. “Kevin is a wonderful storyteller and this is a wonderful idea for a fantasy series. With its imaginative roots in a fascinating period of history, it promises to be a series that will appeal to both genre and mainstream readers, and this makes it a particularly exciting publishing prospect for us.”
Book six—Metal Swarm—of Anderson’s current series, “The Saga of the Seven Suns,” will be published by Orbit in its first season, this December. Book seven is expected to appear next year, and then the “Terra Incognita” series will debut in 2009.
Orbit is the new sf imprint of Hachette, which is phasing out its Warner Aspect line (and the Warner name in general, which is now Grand Central Publishing).
