The fourth annual March Madness-style original fiction tournament began on March 10, and will feature five weeks of matches, resulting in one triumphant winner, selected by fans. Suvudu revealed the official Cage Match 2014 bracket and event launch video.
Cage Match invites authors to create fictional battles for iconic characters, sharing their idea for how the fight would play out. At the conclusion of each match, readers vote for a winner to advance to the next round, and are invited to make the case for their selection, debating with other fans in Suvudu’s lively comments section. Characters featured in Cage Match 2014 include Katniss Everdeen of the Hunger Games against Trillian of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Arya Stark from A Song of Ice and Fire against Rick Deckard of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and more.
The theme of Cage Match 2014 is Page versus Screen. The rounds will lead up to a battle between a character from sci-fi and fantasy books and a character from television and film. Cage Match 2014 will feature matches as imagined by notable science fiction and fantasy writers, including:
