A press release from Michael Vance of Westerntainment:
As mankind races toward World War II in the closing months of 1939, a new generation of costumed and super-powered heroes arrives to stem the tide of rising chaos.
This sets the stage for the new novel, The Steel Ring, written by R.A. Jones. Best known for his work on such comic book series as Wolverine and Captain America; DC’s Showcase ’94; Harlan Ellison’s Dream Corridor; Metal Hurlant; Bulletproof Monk; Scimidar and Ferret, Jones has also written or co-written the novels Deathwalker from Airship 27, The Equation, and Global Star.
In the 1990s, R.A. wrote the comic book series The Protectors, for Malibu Comics. This superhero team book revived a set of characters that had originally appeared in the pages of various titles published by Centaur Comics in the late 1930s and early 1940s, only to fade into the obscurity of public domain when the publisher itself left the scene.
Among the heroes resuscitated by R.A. were Amazing Man, the Ferret, Man of War, the Witch, Iron Skull, the Fantom, the Eye, and the Clock.
Those same heroes are again spotlighted in The Steel Ring, in a tale set in the time period in which they originally appeared in comic books. It is a story whose elements span a thousand years and features guest appearances by such real life luminaries as Albert Einstein, Amelia Earhart, Adolf Hitler and President Franklin Roosevelt.
When a mysterious power conspires to hasten and worsen the looming global conflict, heroes from around the globe are assembled together for the first time in an attempt to thwart this plot and save the lives of millions.
The Steel Ring is published by Westerntainment and is available at Amazon and CreateSpace.
