The Tomorrow Project has extended the deadline on its current competition, “due to overwhelming interest.” The new deadline to enter “The Future – Powered by Fiction” is 31 December 2013.

“The Future Powered by Fiction provides a space for young people to participate in science-based conversations and share their imaginative designs for the future.

“In collaboration with the Society for Science & the Public, ASU’s Center for Science and the Imagination and the Intel Foundation, the Tomorrow Project has announced an innovative fiction competition geared at 13- to 25-year-olds worldwide, asking them to contribute science fiction stories, essays, comics and videos to explore the kinds of futures we want to work toward together.”

The competition offers ten $1,000 prizes to entrants between the ages of 13 and 25. They’re looking for submissions of three types: stories or essays (not more than 3,000 words), videos, and comic books (the latter two with accompanying 500-word essays). Themes must fall into one of six categories: Earth & Beyond; The Future of Food; Smarter, Stronger, Faster; The City of Tomorrow; The Incredible Shrinking Computer; and The Future of Your Mind.
