A press release from the Illustrators of the Future Contest:

As we come to the conclusion of our 25th year—silver anniversary—for the Illustrators Contest, we are proud to announce our 3rd quarter Illustrator Contest winners. And they are:

Kirbi Fagan of Michigan
Michael Talbot of Massachusetts
Bernardo Mota of Portugal

Congratulations to these incredibly talented artists! Looking at just one of these 3 pieces Kirbi, Michael and Bernardo each submitted to the Contest, this is a very creative trio.

Once the 4th quarter winners are announced, the 12 winners for the year will each be sent one of the winning stories from the Writers of the Future Contest and given the task to illustrate it for publication in the annual anthology.

Those 12 illustrations are then sent to a new panel of judges to determine the Grand Prize winner for the year who will receive the Golden Brush Award and $5,000.

Well-known Contest judges include award-winning artists: Dave Dorman, Vincent Di Fate, Diane Dillon, Bob Eggleton, Larry Elmore, Laura Brodian Freas, Stephen Hickman, Val Lakey Lindahn, Ron Lindahn, Stephan Martiniere, Cliff Nielsen, Sergey Poyarkov, Stephen Youll and Academy Award-winner Shaun Tan.
