Top Box Office Grossers – Third Week in November 2012

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 16-22 November 2012. Surprising absolutely no one, the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,  destroyed everything else at the box office, opening at the top of the charts and chewing up $162.9 million. Skyfall slipped from #1 to #2, spying up $50.8 million, for a two-week total of $170.6 million. Lincoln climbed from #15 to #3 in its first full week in release. Wreck-It Ralph slipped from #2 to #4, tearing down $23.3 million, for a three-week total of $126.5 million. Argo slipped from #4 to #6, rescuing $5.1 million, for a six-week total of $93.0 million. Indian romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan opened at #10.

Hotel Transylvania slipped from #10 to #11, chewing up $1.2 million, for an eight-week total of $143.0 million. Cloud Atlas fell from #6 to #12, connecting with $1.2 million, for a four-week total of $25.2 million.  Sinister fell from #12 to #16, scaring up $600 thousand, for a six-week total of $47.6 million. Dramedy Silver Linings Playbook opened on the 21st, but still managed to work it way to #17 on the charts. Paranormal Activity 4 fell from #11 to #18, making $500 thousand, for a five-week total of $53.6 million. The newest version of Anna Karenina (with Keira Knightley and Jude Law) opened in limited release in the US, and rose to #19 on the charts. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D fell from #13 to #22, reaping $300 thousand, for a four-week total of $17.2 million. Looper slipped from #18 to #23, returning $250 thousand, for an eight-week total of $65.2 million. Brave slipped from #22 to #25, making $200 thousand, for a twenty-two-week total of $236.6 million.

Falling out of the top 25 this week were:
Frankenweenie (last week’s #23) in its seventh week in release (box office total: $34.1 million)
The Odd Life of Timothy Green (last week’s #25) in its fourteenth week in release (box office total: $51.2 million)
