Actor Michael O’Hare Dies

Actor Michael O’Hare died 28 September 2012, five days after suffering a heart attack and falling into a coma. Born 6 May 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, he may be best known for playing Comander Jeffrey Sinclair for the first season of Babylon 5 (he reprised the role in guest appearances in the second and third seasons).

After attending Harvard and Julliard, O’Hare began appearing on television and on Broadway in the late 1970s. He had a 14-month run as Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep in A Few Good Men (November 1989-January 1991). He apparently retired from acting after Babylon 5, but for two guest appearances on Law & Order (in 1997 and 2000).

His other genre roles include appearances in: The Ambulance (1990) The Trial of the Incredible Hulk (1989), Tales from the Darkside (1986), and C.H.U.D. (1984).

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski wrote of his death: “This is a terrible loss for all B5 fans and everyone involved with the show wishes to convey their condolences to the O’Hare family. He was an amazing man.”

O’Hare is survived by his wife and brother.
