You’ve probably noticed some changes here at SFScope. There will be more coming in the next few days.
What’s happening is that we’re switching back-ends and servers. Co-founder Al Beecy is opting out after five wonderful years backstopping me on all the technical issues associated with running ‘Scope. In his place, Glenn Haumann is stepping in, and we’re moving the site to a new home, where we’ll be (at least loosely) affiliated with his ComicMix.
From your point of view, the biggest change will be the visual layout of the site. But we’re maintaining our same news reporting, our same focus, and our same love of the genres (although with the move, we may finally get the pesky comment screening fixed, so that you can comment on articles).
There may be a few hiccups in several of the List articles, specifically Author Appearances and Books Received, as we’re not only updating and writing new pieces, but transferring old and current pieces from the old server.
At the moment, our e-mail server is caught in the transitional limbo, so if you’re trying to e-mail us, we’re not getting it. Until we get it back up and running, feel free to use the backup address: sfscope [at] hotmail [dot] com.
We’ll also be moving the advertising over, and as soon as possible, opening up to accept new ads on the site (how else can you reach thousands of people who are really, truly interested in sf/f/h books and magazines and more?).
That’s about it for the moment. Let us know if there’s something missing that you truly need or want; we’ll see what we can do. And thanks, as always, for your unstinting support!
