Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 20-26 April 2012. Comedy Think Like a Man finally dethrones The Hunger Games, opening at the top of the charts. Drama The Lucky One opened at #2. The Hunger Games was pushed off the top of the charts, after four weeks at number one, slipping to #3, fighting up $18.8 million, for a five-week total of $361.2 million. Documentary Chimpanzee opened at #4. The Cabin in the Woods slipped from #3 to #6, earning $10.9 million, for a two-week total of $30.2 million. Mirror Mirror slipped from #8 to #10, magicking up $5.5 million, for a four-week total of $56.6 million.
Wrath of the Titans fell from #6 to #11, adventuring up $5.2 million, for a four-week total of $78.5 million. Lockout slipped from #9 to #12, locking up $4.4 million, for a two-week total of $12.4 million. The Lorax slipped from #10 to #13, greening up $2.3 million, for an eight-week total of $207.6 million. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island slipped from #13 to #16, actioning up $750 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $101.4 million. John Carter fell from #17 to #24, earning $250 thousand, for a seven-week total of $69.1 million.
