Chicon 7, the 70th World Science Fiction Convention (“Worldcon”), regrets to announce that Special Guest Peter Sagal has had to withdraw from his Worldcon appearance due to conflicting professional commitments.
Peter Sagal is best known as the host of National Public Radio’s irreverent weekly news quiz “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me.” He has often identified himself on the radio as a science fiction fan, and was expected to impart an additional dose of Chicago into Chicon 7 with his knowledge and humor.
Sagal’s commitment to filming a new documentary unfortunately requires him to be overseas during the weekend of Chicon 7, making it impossible to participate in the event. Sagal has expressed his apologies to the Chicon 7 team, saying “I’m heartbroken I won’t be able to attend my first Worldcon since 1980. As it happens, I’ll be in ReykjavÌk, or some other place less interesting than Chicago. I wish everybody all the best.”
