A press release from Scott H. Andrews of Beneath Ceaseless Skies:
Beneath Ceaseless Skies, the pro-rate online magazine dedicated to literary adventure fantasy, is featuring a special theme month of science-fantasy. For two issues in March, BCS will have stories, cover art, and fiction podcasts set in fantastical worlds that are futuristic.
“Science-fantasy worlds can be just as cool as fantasy ones,” says BCS Editor-in-Chief Scott H. Andrews. “The futuristic settings of worlds like E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith’s Lensmen or Dune are just as awe-inspiring and fantastical as Conan’s Hyperborea or Middle Earth. Character-driven stories in worlds like these can be just as much fun as literary adventure fantasy and can comment just as profoundly on what it means for us to be human.”
BCS Science-Fantasy Month will include stories by Yoon Ha Lee, Chris Willrich, Megan Arkenberg, and more. Along with special science-fantasy cover art and fiction podcasts, BCS will feature author interviews discussing the stories and the authors’ views on science-fantasy in the genre. Readers can enter to win one of two signed copies of George R.R. Martin’s tribute anthology Songs of the Dying Earth, which honors the famous setting and legacy of science-fantasy great Jack Vance.
BCS Science-Fantasy Month begins on March 8 with Issue #90, available free online and as ebooks at beneath-ceaseless-skies.com, and in the Kindle Store and WeightlessBooks.com.
