Top Box Office Grossers: Second Week in February 2012

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 10-16 February 2012. Romantic drama The Vow opened at the top of the charts, with action thriller Safe House taking the #2 spot. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island opened at #3, actioning up $33.1 million. The 3-D re-release of Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace opened at #4, forcing $25.9 million. Chronicle slipped from #1 to #5, making $15.6 million, for a two-week total of $43.5 million. The Woman in Black slipped from #2 to #6, haunting up $13.5 million, for a two-week total of $38.6 million. Underworld Awakening fell from #5 to #10, sucking up $3.8 million, for a four-week total of $60.2 million.
Hugo held steady at #14, clocking in $2.4 million, for a twelve-week total of $65.1 million. Beauty and the Beast fell from #13 to #19, dancing up $1.1 million, for a five-week total of $46.7 million. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked slipped from #22 to #24, singing up $700 thousand, for a nine-week total of $129.2 million.
