A press release from Pete Crowther of PS Publishing:
We just found out that those lovely people at Hodder are doing a special 700-copy facsimile-signed and slipcased edition of Stephen King’s new standalone Dark Tower novel, The Wind Through The Keyhole and the good news is we’ve snagged 400 copies for our customers! Whoo hoo!
For readers new to The Dark Tower, The Wind Through The Keyhole promises to be a wonderful introduction to the series. Fans of the existing seven books will delight in discovering what happened to Roland Deschain and his ka-tet between the time they leave the Emerald City and arrive at the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis.
This Russian Doll of a novel—a story within a story, within a story—visits Mid-World’s last gunslinger, Roland and his chums as a ferocious storm halts their progress along the Path of the Beam. (The novel can be placed between the fourth and fifth volumes of the full series—I’ve already made a space for my copy.)
Roland tells a tale from his early days as a gunslinger, in the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a “skin man,” Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter. Roland, himself only a teenager, calms the boy by reciting a story from the Book of Eld that his mother used to read to him at bedtime: “The Wind through the Keyhole.” “A person’s never too old for stories,” Roland says to Bill. “Man and boy, girl and woman, we live for them.”
And that goes a big fat double for all of us here at PS Towers!
Once again, there will be no dust-jacket on this special edition so, just like last time, we’re having jackets printed at our own expense for our copies which we will then be attaching before the books are sent out.
The price of this edition is £100 and we will be filling all orders during mid-to late-April.
Okay, so far so good.
The first 200 orders will
* be post-free anywhere in the world;
* receive a special numbered 20%-discount voucher to be used against a future order of pre-2012 PS titles (and please note that there will be no restriction on the number of books on that order so the 20% reduction will apply to all items ordered [not including postage]); and
* qualify the customer to be included in a special prize draw wherein the first 10 names pulled out of the hat will receive—completely free of charge—a copy of our One For The Road artbook (written by Stephen, of course, and illustrated by James Hannah). The retail price of this super-limited book is £75. So that’s… hey, that means that for those ten customers (a free £75 book, free postage and 20% discount on a new order), the new Dark Tower novel kind of comes totally free of charge! (Hey, Nicky… Mike? Am I doing this right…?)
So, go ahead and place your orders right away. We’ll make the draw as soon as the 200th order has been received.
