A press release from Caroline Newbury of Ebury Press:
Ebury Publishing is delighted to announce the appointment of Michael Rowley as Editorial Director SF and Fantasy, Ebury Press.
Ebury has a successful track record publishing bestselling SF books such as The Science of Discworld, Star Wars and Doctor Who and Torchwood. Michael’s new SF and Fantasy list will build on this success and complement the commercial fiction list created by Editorial Director, Gillian Green.
Michael brings fourteen years of experience to this new position. For the past seven years he was a Buyer at Waterstone’s head office, where he specialized in SF & Fantasy, growing sales, launching new authors and driving various initiatives in genre fiction. After graduating from the University of Liverpool with an MA in Science Fiction Studies, Michael started working for Waterstone’s at their Manchester Deansgate branch, where he went on to run the SF & Fantasy section and co-edit the in-house genre magazine Enigma.
Ebury Publishing Managing Director Fiona MacIntyre said: “Michael is recognised as being one of the best in the business and it is a real pleasure to provide a home for him to develop a subject he so clearly loves. His astute understanding of the SF and Fantasy audience will help shape an exciting, innovative and profitable list.”
Michael Rowley says, “Joining Ebury is a dream job for me, the high point of a long career specializing in genre fiction. To be part of such a wonderful and passionate team is hugely exciting, and I can’t wait to get started.”
