Actor Wyatt Knight was found dead outside his home in Maui, Hawaii, on 26 October 2011. His wife, Silvina, reports that the committed suicide, saying he had grown tired of the physical and emotional pain he suffered while battling cancer. “After much contemplation, he chose to end his life in a beautiful and a serene place.… His family and friends are devastated.” She also said “Wyatt was an incredibly talented, intelligent and loving person with an amazing spirit. He is free and at peace.”
Knight was born 20 January 1955, and will be best remembered for playing Tommy Turner in the early 1980s’ Porky’s movies. His first acting roles were in a 1979 episode of The Waltons and a 1979 tv movie called Friendly Fire. His last role was in a 2010 episode of Crafty. His genre roles included Maniac Magee (2003), an appearance in the 1988 Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Coming of Age”, and behind-the-scenes work in Baby Geniuses (1999, he was an “assistant baby wrangler”), Bombshell (1996, on-line video producer), and the ABC Weekend Specials episode “Fudge-A-Mania” (1995, child acting coach).
Knight was twice divorced, and is survived by his third wife and two children from his second marriage.
