A Very Brooklyn Night Before Christmas

A press release from the Brooklyn Lyceum:
With Brooklyn being a melange of cultures and creeds, Christmas can mean a lot of things, from the non-denominational decadent light displays of Dyker Heights, to the Origami Crane Christmas trees in the Korean Christian churches. Therefore this coming Holiday Season, beginning Dec 10th, the Brooklyn Lyceum is taking a timeless classic and twisting it up with tales of Christmases past by the Brooklyn-born and Brooklyn-Become people who lived them. Yes, our very own ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
The 45-minute show will involve three readers, each reciting four stanzas from the classic poem, and following with a beautiful Brooklyn Christmas tale from their own storied lives. Coupled with live music, costumes and personal photos, it’s sure to be a holiday delight. A new spin on a story for all ages, the Lyceum is breathing Brooklyn into the classic pages.
Guest readers will include an Argentinian Emigre, a Young Arab-American Sketch comic, an improvisor for whom Christmas always meant Chinese food and lots of questions a Punk Rock fashionista and our own petite, pigtailed, brown-eyed Brooklyn roughneck, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas will take a new turn on the tenth, so if you are a fan of the story, or starting your children on traditions of their own, come down to the Lyceum, with friends or alone.
The fun happens Saturdays and Sundays at four the last two weeks of December. Get in the spirit early or join us at the Holiday market, and come down to the Public Bath #7 (aka the Brooklyn Lyceum) for a holiday you will always remember.
