Marvel Comics lays off 11

Comic Book Resources reports that Marvel Comics laid off 11 people last week, as a major cost-cutting move. According to CBR, “The cuts arrive just two weeks after the company let go Chief Operating Officer Jim ‘Ski’ Sokolowski, who had held that position since fall 2008. Even before today’s layoffs, Marvel had five editorial vacancies it had yet to fill from staff departures in the past year.”
CBR notes the layoffs included three editorial positions, four production jobs, two “in the trades department and two in digital compositing.” Those laid off include editors Alejandro Arbona and Jody LeHeup. See their article for the details and names.
