Publisher Richard Gluesen writes “Spotlight Publishing, an independent publisher based in Madison, North Carolina, and doing business since 2005, has relaunched itself in 2011 with a new line of mostly science fiction and fantasy books. The first titles to be published will be three volumes of short stories, The Trouble with Eating Clouds by Edmund R. Schubert (editor of Orson Scott Card’s InterGalactic Medicine Show), There is No Wheel by James Maxey (with an introduction by Schubert), and Never Never Stories by Jason Sanford.
“These books will shortly be followed by three anthologies, the first of which will be InterGalactic Awards Anthology Vol. I, edited by Orson Scott Card and Edmund R. Schubert, which will showcase the winners of the 2010 IGMS reader’s poll and other stories from the magazine’s six-year run. Following this in early 2012 will be a pair of anthologies collecting winners, finalists, and notable stories from the eight-year history of the Million Writers Award: Million Writers Award: The Best New Online Voices and Million Writers Award: The Best Online Science Fiction and Fantasy, both edited by Jason Sanford.”
Schubert is also listed as the company’s primary acquisitions editor. The company appears to have previously published only one book, Lessons in Stalking: Adjusting to Life with Cats by Dena Harris.
