New horror flick Scream 4 opened at #2, scaring up $24.0 million. Hop slipped from #1 to #3, finding $16.6 million, for a three-week total of $88.0 million. Hanna fell from #2 to #5, slaying $10.4 million, for a two-week total of $26.4 million. Insidious slipped from #6 to #7, taking in $9.7 million, for a three-week total of $38.8 million. Source Code slipped from #7 to #8, arresting $8.9 million, for a three-week total of $39.6 million. Your Highness fell from #5 to #9, making $6.0 million, for a two-week total of $18.1 million. Limitless slipped from #8 to #10, earning $5.4 million, for a five-week total of $71.3 million.
Lincoln assassination film The Conspirator opened at #11, and the film version Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged opened at #14. Rango fell from #11 to #18, rounding up $950 thousand, for a seven-week total of $119.0 million. Battle: Los Angeles fell from #14 to #20, shooting up $750 thousand, for a six-week total of $82.4 million. Paul fell from #13 to #21, spiriting away $700 thousand, for a five-week total of $36.3 million. Gnomeo & Juliet, which last week fell out of the top 25, this week popped back up to #22, romancing up another $650 thousand, for a ten-week total of $98.0 million. The Adjustment Bureau fell from #18 to #23, arranging $500 thousand, for a seven-week total of $60.9 million.
