Author L.K. Madigan Dies

YA author L.K. Madigan died 23 February 2011 of pancreatic cancer. “Madigan” was the pseudonym of 47-year-old Lisa Kay Wolfson, who announced her impending death in her last blog post in January. She had been diagnosed with, and survived, breast cancer at the age of 27.
Her first novel, Flash Burnout, was published by Houghton Mifflin in 2009, and won the ALA’s 2010 William C. Morris Debut Award. Her second novel, The Mermaid’s Mirror, appeared in October, also from Houghton Mifflin.
She is survived by her husband and teenage son. A trust fund has been established to benefit her son; donations may be sent to the Nathan Wolfson Trust, c/o Becker Capital Management, 1211 SW Fifth Ave., Suite 2185, Portland, OR 97204 USA.
