Following up last year’s performance of The Fellowship of the Ring, New York City’s Radio City Music Hall will be presenting The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Live to Film on 8 and 9 October. In these special performances, “Peter Jackson’s award-winning motion picture will be shown on an enormous projection screen while, on stage, Howard Shore’s entire original score is performed live in careful synchronization with the picture.” For the performance, Maestro Ludwig Wicki will lead Switzerland’s 21st Century Orchestra, the Collegiate Chorale, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.
Showtime both nights is 7:30PM (there will be an intermission). Ticket prices range from $59.00 to $150.00.
Doug Adams, author of The Music of The Lord of the Rings Films: A Comprehensive Account of Howard Shore’s Scores (which will be released 5 October), offers the program notes available here.
