Wil Wheaton/John Scalzi Fan Fiction Contest to Benefit the Lupus Alliance of America

Author John Scalzi and actor/author Wil Wheaton, with the assistance of Subterranean Press, are running a fan fiction contest for the benefit of the Lupus Alliance of America. In short, they’re looking for people to write fan fiction (400-2,000 words) based on the painting by Jeff Zugale at right (a larger version, along with more in-depth information, is available on Scalzi’s blog). Deadline for story submissions is 30 June at 11:59PM EDT.
The writer of the winning story will be paid 10 cents per word, and will win a prize pack of books from Subterranean Press. Additionally, the winning story will appear in “a special electronic chapbook featuring stories about the painting, written by Scalzi, Wheaton, Catherynne Valente, and Patrick Rothfuss.” The chapbook will be “published later this year, with profits to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America.”
