Tor Books celebrates its 30th birthday

Tor Books is celebrating 30 years of publishing. And while in some respects the house still feels like the young upstart trying to remake sf publishing, in others, Tom Doherty’s little publisher that could has grown into the sf publisher that can. Celebrating this anniversary, the publisher’s blog has a series of articles looking back at the company’s history.
Articles include:
“From Kathleen Doherty, a very proud daughter!” by founder Tom Doherty’s daughter, discussing how she came to work for her father’s company.
“Tor Memories: Traveling with Ralph Arnote” by Executive Editor Beth Meacham, about the company’s first sales director.
“Office Space… the final frontier” by Senior Editor Melissa Ann Singer, talking about, well, the title gives it away.
“Before Production Went Paperless…” by Senior Editor Patrick Nielsen Hayden (accompanied by a William Rotsler cartoon)
“Tor Back Then” by Senior Editor Patrick Nielsen Hayden (about his experiences joining the company 22 years ago)
“The Sacred Rock of Tor” (a photo essay)
Clips from the History of Tor panel at last year’s WorldCon
An announcement of upcoming Giveaways
Happy Birthday, Tor!
