SF author Karl Schroeder is the Toronto Public Library’s current Writer-in-Residence (from 1 February to 31 May). As such, he’s blogging, performing readings and leading workshops, and offering writers a chance at one-on-one manuscript evaluations.
A special, upcoming event is Schroeder’s live one-hour chat on Book Buzz, the library’s online book club. He’ll be live on Wednesday 24 March from 7 to 8PM EDT (and the chat will be open to everyone on the web, not just Torontonians).
The library calls Schroeder an author and futurist. His first science fiction novel, Ventus, was a New York Times Notable book in 2001, and his second novel, Permanence, won the 2003 Aurora Award. He is best known for the Virga series, and has taught courses on writing science fiction at both the University of Toronto and George Brown College.
