Andrew Porter writes to tell us that he and Robert Lichtman have scanned a selection of William Rotsler’s Christmas cards and made them publicly available here (warning: some of them are not safe for work).
Rotsler (1926-97) was an author, artist, sculptor, and fan. He won five Hugo Awards for best fan artist, for his work as a cartoonist. It is that cartooning background that was the basis for several of the offered cards. Rotsler was also a camerman for adult films, and that background is the basis for several other cards.
Southern California’s Rotsler Award for “long-time wonder-working with graphic art in amateur publications of the science fiction community” is named for him.
