Agent Brendan Deneen is moving to the other side of the editorial desk. He’s leaving Fineprint Literary Management to become an editor at St. Martin’s Press. Publishers Weekly reports that Deneen “will be handling all fiction but is especially interested in thrillers, elevated genre (horror, sci-fi, etc.), and mainstream noir/crime.”
Deneen began his literary life as an assistant literary agent at the William Morris Agency, and then moved to work as an executive for film producer Scott Rudin. After two years with Rudin, he moved to a job at Dimension Films, which morphed into a role with Miramax Films, and then The Weinstein Company. He has been at Fineprint since July 2007.
Deneen was not immediately available for comment.
