Actress Alaina Reed-Amini—also known as Alaina Reed Hall and Alaina Reed—died 17 December 2009 of cancer. Born Bernice Reed on 10 November 1946, in Springfield, Ohio, she attended Ohio State University before moving to New York and singing in nightclubs in the early 1970s. From there, she moved onto Broadway, including Chicago, Hair, and Eubie!.
In 1976, she joined the cast of Sesame Street as Olivia, Gordon’s sister. She stayed with the show until 1988, though she also won a role in the sitcom 227 in 1985. On this show, she met Kevin Peter Hall, who played her husband. They married in 1988, and had two children, before he died in 1991. She married Tamim Amini in 2008.
Her genre roles include: Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1995), 13 episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog (1994), and Death Becomes Her (1992).
