Arkham Tales #5 now available; last issue

Editor and Publisher Nathan Shumate writes to tell us that issue #5 of Arkham Tales (dated November 2009) is now available for free download. Shumate also tells us that this is the final issue of the free, quarterly pdf magazine “devoted to ‘weird’ fiction: supernatural suspense and adventure stories informed by (though not imitative of) the pulp fiction of the early 20th century.” It is offered in two formats: one optimized for reading on screen, and one optimized for printing. He blames the magazine’s impending death on “the effects of the economic downturn.” With the announcement of the magazine’s demise, he also tells writers whose work has been accepted but not published that they are “released from all previous agreements.” (Authors can contact him at arkhamtales at gmail dot com.)
