Brooklyn Indie Market’s second Steampunk Day coming

Brooklyn Indie Market announces that they’ll be holding Steampunk II, their Second Annual Steampunk Day, on 24 October. Subtitled “Your Ticket to Time Travel, Past and Future”, the day’s events will feature a focus on steampunk in their emerging designer market, a Steampunk Fashion Show, “Steampunk 101” (presented by G.D. Falksen), Victorian inspired refreshments, Victorian Photo Sitting (by Tsirkus Fotografika), and an after party at The Way Station.
As BIM’s Kathy Malone says, “With a week before Halloween, this is an opportunity for grownups to have their day of dress up and make-believe. Retro Futurism descends upon Carroll Gardens under the red and white striped tent on the corner of Smith and Union Street (Brooklyn, New York 11231), and spills out into the street with a Steampunk Fashion Show at 4PM.” BIM is open Saturdays from 11AM to 7PM, and Sundays from 11AM to 6PM. Steampunk-specific exhibitors expected the day of Steampunk II include Steamed Punk, Morrigan NYC, and Once Lost Jewelry.
The after party will feature live performances by ambient/psychedelic musician Karen LeBlanc and sci-fi/goth/electronica by Psyche Corporation. The Way Station, Brooklyn’s “first Steampunk Bar and performance venue”, is located at 685 Washington Avenue. The after party kicks off at 8PM.
Brooklyn Indie Market is “a collective of fashion and product designers providing a connection between emerging designers and consumers, retail buyers, stylists, personal shoppers, and the press. Our aim is to connect one another and the greater NYC public to our traveling markets, fashion events, showcases, workshops, and more in and around the New York area. We also welcome non-New York area designers who are interested in our mission.”
