The fourth Sharon Lee and Steve Miller Liaden Universe manuscript auction is now running on eBay (see this page). The auction ends 5 October at 16:09 PDT. At press time, the bid was up to $76.00.
Like the previous auctions, this is an attempt by the authors to both clean out their over-filled files, and to offer their fans a unique opportunity. The current package is for “Candlelight”, a shorter piece originally published by Pulphouse. The package includes:
* Original typescript, hand corrected by authors, dated July 1984
* Submission typescript
* Carbon copy of submission letter to Good Housekeeping
* Several rejection letters (including Good Housekeeping)
* Another copy, with hand-written revisions
* Intent-to-publish letter from Pulphouse, signed by Dean Wesley Smith, receive date noted in Sharon’s hand as October 1992
* A copy of Pulphouse #19, in which “Candlelight” appeared (the last issue of Pulphouse)
* more (see details on the auction page)
As with the previous auctions, the winning bidder gets the paper, but not the copyright.
