Peter Breyer of the Writers & Illustrators of the Future contests writes that the annual workshops (for winners) have begun, and are being blogged about daily at this link. “You can now follow the writers and illustrators as they progress through the workshop to hone their artistic skills to new levels.”
The awards ceremony will be this Saturday, 29 August, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and there’s an invitation posted on this page, if you’re in the area and interested in attending.
They’ve also scheduled two book signings for Sunday, 30 August, with many of the judges and the winners planned to appear. The first, at 12N, will be at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena. The second, at 3:30PM, will be at the Barnes & Noble in Burbank. Details, and the stores’ address, are available on this page.
The Writers of the Future contest is celebrating a quarter century of giving out large cash prizes to brand new sf authors. The sibling Illustrators of the Future contest is a few years younger, but similarly rewarding.
