SFBC art contest and limited-edition cover art

The Science Fiction Book Club‘s Senior Editor Rome Quezada tells SFScope of some SFBC art news: specifically, of a contest and a commission.
The contest: “For all the aspiring artists and enthusiasts in the club, SFBC is holding our first ever Catalog Cover Contest. Two winners—one fantasy, one science fiction—will be the cover art on upcoming SFBC catalogs. You do have to be a member to submit an entry, and we will be accepting entries until 30 November 2009, so there’s time to sign up for the club, create a masterpiece or two, and enter the contest.” Details will be in the September catalog.
And speaking of the September catalog, Quezada tells us “We’ve also commissioned Donato [Giancola] for SFBC exclusive cover art of Philip K. Dick’s classic, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, with a working sketch on the cover of our September catalog to kick off the contest. The final cover will definitely be worth seeing, as we’re doing a limited edition metallic foil cover to showcase the incredible piece Donato did for us.”
