Actor Ed Reimers died 16 August 2009. Born Edwin W. Reimers on 26 October 1912 in Moline, Illinois, Reimers was best-known as the spokesman for Allstate insurance for 22 years (starting in 1957). He was the one who told viewers “You’re in good hands with Allstate.”
Reimers got his start as a radio announcer, and then moved on to television programs such as Maverick and the game show Do You Trust Your Wife? (which was later known as Who Do You Trust?). His tv and film career ran from 1951 to 1971, and included appearances on Thunderbolt the Wondercolt (1952), The Munsters (1965), and the Star Trek episode “The Trouble with Tribbles” (1967, he played Admiral Fitzpatrick).
Reimers’ wife died in 2007. He is survived by his daughter and two grandchildren.
