Carolyn Turgeon sold Mermaid: A Twist on a Classic Tale to Heather Proulx at Three Rivers Press. The deal was handled by agent Elaine Markson. The book, based on the story of The Little Mermaid, follows a princess and a mermaid as they vie for the same prince: a man who’s forbidden to both of them.
The book is Turgeon’s third. Three Rivers also published her second novel, Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story, in March.
Congrats to Carolyn Turgeon on the sale of Mermaid! The legend of the Little Mermaid doesn’t end like Disney’s cartoon version. It was a sad tale that I always enjoyed when it is told properly.
