Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 24-30 April 2009. 17 Again was knocked out of the top spot by new opener Obsessed. 17 Again grossed $13.8 million, for a two-week total of $42.1 million. Monsters vs. Aliens dropped from #3 to #6 (behind four new films), again proving remarkable strong. This week, the animated adventure brought in $10.3 million, for a five-week total of $176.6 million. Crank High Voltage, which was for some reason missing from the charts last week, this week appears at #10, taking in $3.7 million, for a two-week total of $12.8 million.
Knowing slipped from #9 to #12, earning $2.5 million, for a six-week total of $77.3 million. The Haunting in Connecticut was down from #11 to #14, grossing $1.9 million, for a five-week total of $54.6 million. Race to Witch Mountain slipped from #16 to #18, taking in $500 thousand, for a seven-week total of $64.5 million. Dragonball Evolution fell fast, from #12 to #22, scratching out another $400 thousand, for a three-week total of $8.8 million.
The Last House on the Left, last week’s #20, this week fell out of the top 25, in its seventh week in release.
