Edward F. McKeown writes that the Sha’Daa anthology is now available. “The Sha’daa is a shared universe inhabited by a number of authors reigned over by its creator, Mike Hanson and marshaled by its editor Edward McKeown. Set in the present day, it features eleven stories of mankind’s battle on the day of the Apocalypse and a series of interludes that link them. The stories run the gamut from dramedy in ‘The Dive’ where slavering demons burst upon unionized New York sewer workers, to pure horror in the ‘Tunguska Outpact’ to outrageous humor in ‘The Great Nyuk-nyuk’ and everywhere in between as ordinary people suddenly find themselves on the front lines of the a war with the supernatural. The one constant is the Salesman, a mysterious figure appearing at every event bearing with him some token or item that can, if traded for, save the day. But at what price is the Salesman’s help purchased? For whom does he act and why?”
Other than Hanson and McKeown, the contributors to the book include Rob Adams, Nancy Jackson, Deborah Koren, Lee Ann Kuruganti, Wilson “Pete” Marsh, D.R. MacMaster, Adrienne Ray, Arthur Sanchez, and Jamie Schmidt. There’s also an introduction by Mike Resnick.
Sha’Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse is listed at $16.95. There’s an interview with Hanson at this link, and a one-minute trailer on YouTube.
