Free Comic Book Day is once again upon us, this year on 2 May. “Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world are giving away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stories.” Nearly all the participating stores are independent comic dealers. To find the participating store(s) nearest you, use the ZIP code finder on freecomicbookday.com.
This page lists the in-store signings scheduled in 33 US states (many in multiple cities and stores), 4 Canadian provinces, Costa Rica, England, Greece, and the Philippines.
Some of the comics they’ll be giving away for free—which should be available at all participating stores (while supplies last)—include these special FCBD 2009 editions:
Avengers by Brian Bendis and Jim Cheung (Marvel Comics)
Blackest Night #0 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis (DC Comics)
Bongo Comics Free-for-All by Matt Groening (Bongo Comics)
Disney/Pixar’s Cars #1 by Alan J. Porter and Albert Carreres (Boom! Studios)
