SF Site and File 770 are reporting the death of Jack Owen Jardine on 14 April 2009 after a long illness and cardiac problems. Born 10 October 1931 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, he was a long-time Los Angeles-area fan and sometime author.
As Larry Maddock, he wrote the Agent of T.E.R.R.A. series (The Flying Saucer Gambit [1966], The Golden Goddess Gambit [1967], The Emerald Elephant Gambit [1967], and The Time Trap Gambit [1969]). He also co-wrote two novels with his wife, Julie Ann, under the pen name Howard L. Cory: The Mind Monsters (1966) and The Sword of Lankor (1966).
File 770 notes that “his writing career was preceded by several years in radio as a disc jockey and creative director for KALF radio in Mesa, Arizona.” The fanzine also describes the Agent of T.E.R.R.A. series as “featuring the exploits of debonair, time-traveling secret agent Hannibal Fortune and his sardonic, shape-shifting alien colleague Webley.” See that obituary for more on his life.
