Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 6-12 March 2009. New opener, graphic novel adaptation Watchmen debuted in the top spot, taking in $67.9 million. Coraline held steady at #7, this week earning $4.2 million, for a five-week total of $66.5 million.
Street Fighter, which we missed when it opened at #9 last week, this week dropped to #13, taking in $2.0 million, for a two-week total of $7.7 million. Friday the 13th dropped from #10 to #14, grossing $1.9 million, for a four-week total of $63.8 million. Push slipped from #16 to #17, earning in $1.5 million, for a five-week total of $30.0 million. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button slipped from #20 to #21, this week taking in $600 thousand, for an eleven-week total of $126.3 million. The Uninvited also slipped a spot, from #21 to #22, earning $575 thousand, for a six-week total of $27.8 million. Twilight again slipped down, from #23 to #25, bringing in $500 thousand, for a sixteen-week total of $190.8 million.
