Top Box Office Grossers: Fourth Week in March

Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 20-26 March 2009. Once again, a new opener took the top spot. This week, it was Knowing topping the charts, bringing in $31.5 million. It was followed by two more new films: I Love You, Man and Duplicity. Last week’s #1, Race to Witch Mountain, was pushed down to #4, taking in another $15.9 million, for a two-week total of $47.7 million. Watchmen was down from #2 to #5, earning $9.2 million, for a three-week total of $100.5 million. The Last House on the Left was down from #3 to #6, grossing $7.7 million, for a two-week total of $25.8 million. Coraline held strong, falling only from #9 to #10, bringing in another $2.9 million, for a seven-week total of $73.6 million.
Push fell from #20 to #23, taking in just over $250 thousand, for a seven-week total of $31.1 million. The Uninvited held on to the #25 slot, bringing in just under $250 thousand, for an eight-week total of $28.5 million.
Friday the 13th (last week’s #19) fell out of the top 25 in its sixth week in release, and Street Fighter (last week’s #23) also fell off the top of the charts, in its fourth week in release.
