Dancer and actress Altovise Davis died 14 March 2009 at the age of 65, after suffering a stroke. Born Altovise Joanne Gore, she was appearing in the Broadway musical High Spirits in the mid-1960s when she met Sammy Davis, Jr., eighteen years her senior, who was starring in the musical Golden Boy. They married in 1970 (she was his third wife), and she was widowed when he died of throat cancer in 1990.
She appeared in a half-dozen films in the 1970s and ’80s, including the genre pics Welcome to Arrow Beach (1974) and Kingdom of the Spiders (1977, which starred William Shatner).
She is survived by her adopted son, Manny Davis.
