Variety reports the top movies, in terms of box office take, for the week of 6-12 February 2009. New release Coraline opened in the number 3 slot, taking in $20.2 million. New release Push opened at #6, grossing $12.4 million. Last week’s top genre flick, The Uninvited, dropped from #3 to #9, earning $7.4 million, for a two-week total of $19.4 million.
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans dropped from #6 to #11, bringing in $5.3 million, for a three-week total of $41.1 million. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was down from #10 to #14, grossing $3.0 million, for a seven-week total of $120.6 million. My Bloody Valentine 3-D fell from #9 to #16, taking in $2.7 million, for a four-week total of $49.0 million. Inkheart fell from #11 to #21, grossing $1.5 million, for a three-week total of $15.2 million.
Three genre films fell out of the top 25: The Unborn, which was #21 last week, its fourth in release. Twilight fell from #24 after eleven weeks. And Bedtime Stories was #25 last week, after six weeks in the theatres.
